Duties and powers
University press office is a unit under the Department of Medical Research with duties and powers as follows:
* Acceptance of the proposed works from faculty research assistants affiliated to the University Council publication scheme for publishing them
* Planning programs and council publications agenda, preparing minutes of meetings and implement decisions of the council
* Follow up and monitor the total current affairs publication, including administrative, financial, technical, scientific, research and related ministry
* Council approved printing and publishing books in university press
* Journal and publishing scientific and research journals
* Encouraging faculty members to translate and write books needed for the courses in available scientific and academic discipline
* Supply and sale of local exhibitions and publications at the university of Tehran International Fair
* Cooperation with other institutions publishing medical faculties to exchange books
* Estimated annual budget and needs related to press office
* Preparation of annual financial performance report and presentation to council at the end of each fiscal year
Office of university press is a subunit of university Research Department and was established in 1987 with aim of facilitating expansion and valuable printed works, especially for respected veterans teachers in all areas of Medical Sciences.
Publication office receives early request (according to defined processes) and then is presented in University Press Council.
Press council has 14 members and they are proposed by Vice President of Research and are chosen by University President from people with authority and publication in various specialties for two years. The council meeting is once every three weeks, on Sundays and gives the following objectives to follow:
* Publication policy
* Evaluation of requests for book publishing
* Determination of selected books and awards in various occasions such as book weeks and research weeks
* Coordination necessary to obtain scores of books, printed booklet by respective department
* Printing and offering various medical Sciences books ( medicine- pharmacy-Dental Medicine - Nursing and Midwifery - Health and Allied Health)
